An undertrial prisoner committed suicide inside Darbhanga Divisional Jail in Darbhanga late last night.
Darbhanga jail superintendent cum senior deputy collector Umakant Pandey said here today that the jail administration received information about the suicide committed by undertrial prisoner Bholu alias Anshu Ranjan lodged in security cell around 2 a.m. He said the body had been sent to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
He said show cause notices had been issued to jail warden, duty In charge and deputy superintendent in this connection. Further action would be taken against them if their replies to the notices were found unsatisfactory.
Pandey said it was being investigated how the prisoner committed suicide as no material could have reached him in normal circumstances as he was lodged in the security cell. He said action would be taken against guilty people as per law and jail manual.
