Union Ministers take lead in contributing for Clean Ganga Fund

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as Chairperson of Clean Ganga Fund Trust took the lead on Wednesday by personally contributing Rs one lakh at an event here to give a call for action.
The event, organised by the National Mission for Clean Ganga and Union Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, was attended by representatives of corporate houses, non-government organisations and diplomats.
On the occasion, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced donation of Rs 34 crore by Indian Oil Corporation. He personally donated Rs one lakh.
Water Ministers of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and Satya Pal Singh also announced donation of Rs one lakh each.
Punjab National Bank Chairman Sunil Mehta declared a contribution of Rs 2 crore. Some other donors from Mumbai gave generous donations.
Speaking on the occasion, actor and Mathura MP Hema Malini also announced a donation of Rs one lakh and also the proceeds of her nritya natika on River Ganga.
World renowned boxer and Lok Sabha member Mary Kom made an appeal to sportspersons to associate with Clean Ganga Mission.
Among those who attended the event were song writer of Kartavya Ganga Anthem Prasoon Joshi and Trichur brothers Srikrisuna Mohan and Ramkumar Mohan.
On the occasion, several books were released on Ganga Prahari, biodiversity conservation, aquatic life and mobile exhibition on houseboat.
