The National Commission for Women (NCW) will be sending a team to meet Unnao rape survivor who was critically injured in a road accident on Sunday.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, NCW chief Rekha Sharma said on Monday,’Seriously concerned about Unnao accident in which Rape victim with her mother, lawyer and other members met with an accident. Written to @dgpup to do a free and fair investigation in the matter. A speedy action is needed against the culprits in this matter. @Uppolice’.
‘Also sending a team to meet victim, family members and police officials in Unnao,’ she said. The Unnao rape survivor was critically injured, while two of her aunts were killed in a road accident in Rae Bareli on Sunday. Her lawyer who was also travelling in the same car sustained serious injuries in the accident with a truck which had its number plate blackened. The survivor was given security round the clock, but during the accident, no security personnel were present.
BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger, accused of raping the 15-year-old teenager in 2017, is lodged in a jail. Her family alleged a conspiracy, saying that the BJP legislator was behind the accident, as they were regularly being threatened, to withdraw charges.
