Uproar in LS over accident of Unnao survivor

Agitated opposition members raised the issue of accident of Unnao rape survivor in Lok Sabha on Tuesday and demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah should make a statement in the House on it. Opposition members staged a walk out in protest.

As soon as the proceeding of the House commenced, Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury raised the issue of accident of Unnao rape survivor. “The Home Minister should make a statement in the House on this issue,’ he said. Responding to issues raised by the Congress floor leader, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said CBI inquiry is underway and the matter should not be politicised.

He said that a FIR has already been registered and the UP Government is probing the matter with impartiality.BJP member Jagdambika Pal accused that the truck in the accident belonged a Samajwadi Party leader.He alleged that Congress was doing ‘politics’ on the issue.

Opposition members including Congress, SP, BSP and DMK raised slogans and trooped into the Well of the House over the issue. Amid sloganeering, Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan sought permission to consider the passing of The Consumer Protection Bill, 2019.

As there was continued interruption when Mr Paswan rose to speak, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Raosaheb Patil Danve spoke about the salient features of the Bill.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said it was decided that no state matters be discussed in the House. Later, the Opposition parties including Congress, SP, BSP and DMK and AITC walked out over the issue. The discussion on the Bill continued.
