“We are investigating Ponzi scams under the directions of the Supreme Court”: CBI

Kolkata, Feb 4 (UNI) CBI Joint Director Pankaj Srivastava has said that Rajeev Kumar was not cooperating with the CBI  in connection with two Ponzi scams. “We did not need any court order to go to police commissioner’s residence. We are investigating under the directions of the Supreme Court,” he said. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called for a rally in every part of the state to protest the BJP’s “target attack” on West Bengal.

Ms Banerjee continues her ‘Save the Constitution’ dharna with her supporters at Metro Channel, over the ongoing CBI issue.  She is sitting there since 2100 hours.  Ms Banerjee said her struggle will continue till “the situation is resolved.  Meanwhile, DMK chief MK Stalin in a tweet said, “The independence of every institution has been compromised under this fascist BJP Government adding that he is going to stand with Mamata Banerjee in “her fight to protect the federal structure of this country and to save democracy.”  Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has tweeted in support of Mamata Banerjee. “We applaud and support the stand taken by Mamta Banerjee against the autocracy and tyranny of the Central government. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena firmly stands behind her and the fight against this tyranny,Mr Thackeray said.

However, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury in a tweet massage said, ?Corruption cases against TMC govt in chit fund scam have been public for years but Modi govt chose to stay quiet as top mastermind of the scam joined BJP. It does a drama to act now, after 5 years, and TMC leadership responds by staging a drama to protect its corrupt.”  In an  another tweet,  Mr Yechury said, “This drama in Kolkata by BJP and TMC is not a fight for any principle but only to save their corrupt and hide their corruption. CPI(M) has fought both these undemocratic, corrupt, communal and dictatorial regimes in the Centre and the state and will continue to do so.”
