Mumbai, Reliance Jio again topped the 4G speed chart and continues to maintain leadership with 20.7 megabit per second (Mbps) average 4G download speed in the month of May 2021, according to the latest data published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
As per the data published by TRAI, 4G network speed of Reliance Jio increased marginally in comparison to the previous month, however, it’s average 4G download speed in the month of May was more than three times higher than that of the nearest competitor Vodafone Idea, which showed an average download speed of 6.3 Mbps. This also shows that Bharti Airtel had registered the lowest average 4G download speed of 4.7 Mbps in the month.
In average 4G upload speed, Vodafone Idea had an average 4G upload speed of 6.3 Mbps in May, which was followed by Reliance Jio with an upload speed of 4.2 Mbps and Bharti Airtel with 3.6 Mbps.
It is worth mentioning here that the download speed helps consumers in accessing content from the internet, while upload speed helps them in sending or sharing pictures or video to their contacts. The average speed is computed by Trai based on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.
In Odisha, Jio also continued its leadership with an average 4G download speed of 36.6 Mbps, followed by Vodafone Idea which registered an average download speed of 6.3 Mbps and Bharti Airtel which showed an average 4G download speed of 4.6 Mbps, revealed the data published by TRAI on it MySpeed portal. Similarly, Vodafone Idea had 7.7 Mbps average 4G upload speed followed by 5.7 Mbps average upload speed of Jio and 3.1 Mbps average 4G upload speed by Airtel, in Odisha.
