Cyberabad gearing up for its annual literary festival

HYDERABAD: The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad – often referred to as Cyberabad – are gearing up for the decade old annual Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) scheduled for January 22 to 24.

In view of the ongoing Covid situation, the festival has turned virtual this year.

HLF-2021 is being hosted by Hyderabad Literary Trust in association with Government of Telangana with the support from various publishing, cultural, literary and academic bodies.

Amitav Ghosh, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Devdutt Pattanaik, Aakash Singh, Devaki Jain, Harsh Mander, Parmesh Shahani, NK Singh and Kobad Ghandy are among the writers scheduled to attend the festival.

The regular and popular segments of HLF like Stage Talks, Nanha Nukkad for children, Kavya Dhaara, fine art exhibition and cultural concerts will be held in virtual mode.

“HLF is an annual event that celebrates creativity in all its forms. HLF is a multi-disciplinary, multi-lingual event that draws over a hundred writers, artistes, academics, scholars, publishers from India and abroad each year”, the hosts maintained.

Launched in 2010, the festival has emerged as an important event in the cultural calendar of the country.

“It represents the rich and cosmopolitan ethos of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as the vibrant culture of the modern Cyberabad, the hosts added.
