East Coast Railway (ECoR) organized a special event today to mark World Diabetes Day, focused on raising awareness about diabetes prevention, healthy eating and lifestyle changes. The event, held at the Railway Central Hospital in Bhubaneswar, featured a Healthy Diet Exhibition, a Walkathon and a comprehensive Health Awareness Programme.
Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager of East Coast Railway, inaugurated the Healthy Diet Exhibition in the presence of senior railway officials, healthcare professionals, and staff from the Railway Central Hospital, led by Dr. Sushil Kumar Behera, Principal Chief Medical Director. The exhibition provided valuable information on nutrition and diet plans specifically designed for individuals managing diabetes.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Funkwal emphasized the importance of early detection and prevention of diabetes. He encouraged everyone to adopt healthier lifestyles and monitor their health regularly, particularly their blood sugar levels.
As part of the event’s activities, a Walkathon was flagged off by the General Manager at Rail Sadan early in the morning. The rally, which was attended by railway employees, their families, General public, proceeded to the Central Hospital, symbolizing the collective effort to combat diabetes and promote physical activity.

Participants learned valuable tips on managing and preventing diabetes, as well as the importance of regular health check-ups.
