Trump Targets Lawyers: U.S. President Donald Trump threatened new measures against lawyers and law firms that file immigration lawsuits and other cases he deems unethical.
In a memorandum to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday, President Trump accused lawyers of fueling “rampant fraud and meritless claims” in the immigration system. He directed the Justice Department to pursue sanctions for professional misconduct against these attorneys.
The memorandum also targeted law firms that sue the administration, calling their lawsuits “baseless partisan” actions. Donald Trump asked Bondi to refer these firms to the White House for possible revocation of their security clearances and termination of any federal contracts they were involved with.
Since the beginning of his second term, the Trump administration has faced over 100 lawsuits challenging its actions on issues like immigration and transgender rights. Many of these cases were brought by legal advocacy groups and at least 12 major law firms.
