Delhi Development Projects: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹12,200 crore in Delhi, focusing on enhancing regional connectivity and improving healthcare infrastructure.
Among the key highlights was the inauguration of the 13 km stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, valued at ₹4,600 crore. This marks Delhi’s first Namo Bharat connectivity and is expected to significantly ease travel between Delhi and Meerut with high-speed, safe, and comfortable transit options.
Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated a 2.8 km stretch of Delhi Metro Phase-IV, connecting Janakpuri to Krishna Park at a cost of ₹1,200 crore, and laid the foundation stone for the 26.5 km Rithala-Kundli section of Phase-IV, worth ₹6,230 crore. This new corridor will connect key regions of Delhi and Haryana, such as Rohini, Bawana, Narela, and Kundli, boosting access to residential, commercial, and industrial zones.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Rohini. The state-of-the-art facility, to be built for ₹185 crore, will provide integrated healthcare services, with dedicated blocks for administration, outpatient, inpatient, and treatment facilities.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi celebrated the rapid expansion of India’s metro network, which now spans over 1,000 kilometers, a milestone achieved in just a decade. “In 2014, India’s metro network was only 248 kilometers across five cities. Today, it is operational in 21 cities, with over 1,000 kilometers under rapid development,” he remarked.
Highlighting the government’s focus on modern connectivity, the Prime Minister emphasized the significant budgetary increase for infrastructure—from ₹2 lakh crore a decade ago to over ₹11 lakh crore today. He added that projects like expressways, multi-modal logistics hubs, and freight corridors in Delhi-NCR are driving economic growth and creating jobs for the youth.
PM Modi also underscored the government’s efforts to make healthcare accessible to all, promoting traditional Indian medicine systems like AYUSH and Ayurveda. He noted that India is set to host the first World Health Organization institution for traditional medicine and introduced a special AYUSH visa facility to promote wellness tourism.
The event saw the presence of Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal, Lieutenant Governor Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena, and Chief Minister Ms. Atishi, among other dignitaries.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing confidence that these initiatives will propel Delhi-NCR to new heights of development, enhancing urban mobility, healthcare access, and economic growth.
