India’s first glass bridge over the sea was inaugurated in Kanyakumari. The bridge, which spans 77 meters in length and 10 meters in width, connects the Vivekananda Rock Memorial to the Thiruvalluvar statue.
The newly opened bridge is expected to become a major landmark and tourist attraction. The structure offers panoramic views of the sea and surrounding area, marking a significant addition to Kanyakumari’s coastal infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated Bowstring Arch Bridge, also known as the Mirror Bridge, has transformed Kanyakumari’s landscape with its stunning design and practical utility. Spanning 77 meters in length and 10 meters in width, the bridge offers breathtaking views of the sea while connecting two iconic monuments—the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue.
Constructed at a cost of ₹37 crores, the bridge is part of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s initiative to enhance Kanyakumari’s tourism infrastructure. This visionary project aligns with efforts to position Kanyakumari as a premier tourist destination, providing modern facilities to visitors.
Before the bridge, tourists relied solely on ferry services to travel between the two monuments. Now, the Bowstring Arch Bridge allows visitors to walk across and enjoy panoramic views of the seascape, offering a seamless and enriching experience.
Built using advanced construction technology, the bridge is designed to withstand harsh coastal weather, resist corrosion, and endure strong seaside winds. This ensures safety and longevity, making it a durable addition to Kanyakumari’s infrastructure.
