Maha Kumbh 2025: Maha Kumbh 2025 is set to redefine the way millions of devotees experience the world’s largest religious gathering, combining ancient spiritual traditions with state-of-the-art digital technology. From high-tech security measures to immersive virtual experiences, the event promises to be a unique fusion of faith and modernity, with preparations already underway to ensure a safe and seamless experience for the devotees.
Cyber Security Initiatives to Safeguard Devotees
In a bid to protect the online presence of over 45 crore expected visitors, special cybersecurity measures have been put in place. These include the deployment of 56 dedicated cyber warriors who will monitor and patrol online activities. A new Maha Kumbh cyber police station has been established to tackle cyber threats, such as fraudulent websites, social media scams, and fake links. The Uttar Pradesh government is also promoting the use of verified government websites through a dedicated helpline, 1920, and awareness campaigns across multiple platforms.
“Cyber experts are actively investigating suspicious websites and monitoring social media platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram,” said a state official. “Around 50 suspicious websites have already been flagged, with actions being taken against them.”
Immersive Digital Experiences for Pilgrims
To enhance the spiritual journey of devotees, Maha Kumbh 2025 will introduce innovative digital experiences. A key highlight is the 360-degree virtual reality stalls, which will offer pilgrims a chance to witness major events such as the Peshwai (Grand procession) and Ganga Aarti through immersive technology.
A spectacular drone show featuring a fleet of 2,000 drones will light up the evening skies, narrating legendary tales from Prayag Mahatmyam and Samudra Manthan. The show will highlight the spiritual significance of Prayagraj, offering a magical visual experience for pilgrims and visitors alike.
Digitalization of Infrastructure and Land Allotments
In a landmark move, the Uttar Pradesh government has digitized the land allotment process for the event. The newly established Maha Kumbh Nagar, a state-of-the-art district, is being developed to accommodate the millions of devotees. An online platform, “Maha Kumbh Land and Facility Allotment,” has been created to facilitate the digital management of over 10,000 institutions, ensuring timely land and facility allocations.
Drone surveys have been conducted to map the land topography with high accuracy, while GIS-based maps have been integrated into Google Maps for easy navigation of essential services such as emergency stations, police posts, and food courts.
Advanced Security Measures to Ensure Safety
Safety remains a top priority, with advanced technologies deployed to ensure the well-being of attendees. Remote-controlled life buoys have been introduced for quick rescue operations in case of emergencies. Additionally, underwater drones will provide 24/7 surveillance beneath the waters, equipped with advanced technology to monitor suspicious underwater activity.
AI-powered cameras, drones, and anti-drone systems have been strategically deployed across the venue for enhanced surveillance and security, ensuring that the event runs smoothly without any hitches.
Lost and Found Services via Digital Platforms
For the first time, Maha Kumbh 2025 will feature high-tech Lost and Found registration centers in collaboration with the state police. Digital systems will track missing individuals, and public announcements will be made across social media platforms to reunite pilgrims with their families. The state police will assist in reuniting lost pilgrims, especially after 12 hours.
