Minister Pradhan In Angul: On the occasion of Ganesh Puja, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, during his visit to Angul district on Wednesday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several developmental projects, including at PM Shri Pavitra Mohan Government Higher Secondary School in Kaniha.
The Minister first performed Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of the Prajmandal Bhavan at Kaniha, Talcher, in memory of late Pavitra Mohan Pradhan, former Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and a pioneer of the Prajamandal movement. He stated that the building will soon be constructed and serve as a source of inspiration for the youth, showcasing the glorious history of the movement.
At PM Shri Pavitra Mohan Government Higher Secondary School, Pradhan inaugurated new classrooms, a kitchen, and a dining hall, besides laying the foundation for a 100-bed hostel and a science laboratory at a cost of ₹5.08 crore. He also shared a mid-day meal with students in the newly built dining facility. Projects were funded through CSR initiatives of Jindal, MCL, and NTPC.
Later, Pradhan inaugurated the Tikira River Bridge, built with DMF support, which is expected to boost connectivity, trade, tourism, and overall economic growth in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Pradhan reiterated that providing quality education with modern infrastructure under the National Education Policy is the government’s top priority. He wished the students a bright future.
During his visit, the Union Minister also paid floral tributes to the statue of Pavitra Mohan Pradhan and the Prajamandal martyrs’ memorial at Kaniha. He received warm welcomes and felicitations at different venues across Talcher.
