Ministers and MLAs witness Naval Training during ‘One Day Visit to INS Chilka’

Chilika: A ‘ One Day Visit to INS Chilka’ , for members of Odisha State Legislative Assembly was conducted to Indian Navy’s premier training establishment INS Chilka, on 15 Apr 2022.

The event was organised as part of Unit’s initiative towards introduction of maritime domain and training philosophy of Indian Navy to the peoples’ representatives of Odisha state. A delegation of 82 MLAs along with officials from the State and District Administration headed by Dr Surjya Narayan Patro Hon’ble Speaker of the Legislative Assembly visited INS Chilka.

The day-long visit included presentation on aspects related recruitment and training of Sailors, visit to training facilities and living spaces of trainees as well as witnessing boot camp training activities conducted at INS Chilka.

The aspects related to Coastal Security, Civil Military Liasion with emphasis to HADR operations were also discussed during the presentation.

Cmde NP Pradeep, Naval Officer-in-Charge (Odisha) and Commanding Officer, INS Chilka later apprised the distinguished guests about the recent technological developments in the Navy towards ensuring maritime security of our Nation. The honourable members also witnessed a cultural programme conducted by the trainees of 01/22 batch.

The Hon’ble speaker of Odisha Assembly also addressed the gathering and thanked INS Chilka for the yeoman efforts to impart ab-initio training to the naval sailors.He also said that Odisha is proud that the premier training establishment is located in the state. He also highlighted that the bedrock of the sailor’s journey in the Navy is laid here.
