National Tennis Tournament Kicks Off at Manipal University Jaipur

National Tennis Tournament: Manipal University Jaipur proudly inaugurated the All India Inter University Tennis (Men) Tournament 2025–26 on Saturday, bringing together top university teams from across the country for an exciting five-day national sporting event.

A total of 80 players from 16 universities representing all four zones of India are competing in this prestigious tournament organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The tournament will run from 17th to 21st January 2026 at the MUJ campus.

The event was formally inaugurated by Pro-President, Manipal University Jaipur, Dr. Karunakar A. Kotegar. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Madhura Yadav, Dean – Student Welfare, and Dr. Pankaj Vyas, Director – DSW, along with other distinguished guests. Coaches, officials and team managers from the participating institutions were also present, adding to the spirited start.

The 16 universities contesting for the national title are: Manipal University Jaipur; Osmania University; University of Delhi; Manipur University, Imphal; VELS University; ITM University, Gwalior; KIIT University, Bhubaneswar; Sports University of Haryana, Rai, Sonipat; Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune; University of Calcutta; Panjab University, Chandigarh; KLEF University; Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi; Bennett University, Noida; SRM University, Chennai; Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

All 16 teams secured their spots by qualifying through zonal inter-university tournaments and will now battle it out for the national championship. With high energy visible on the court, players began their campaigns with determination and sporting spirit.

The tournament reflects MUJ’s commitment to promoting university-level sports and nurturing talent on national platforms.
