Amrit Bharat Express: Indian Railways to introduce the Santragachi–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express, marking another significant milestone in its journey towards modern, affordable, and inclusive rail connectivity.

The inaugural service will be flagged off by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on 18th January 2026.

Introduction of this Amrit Bharat Express establishes a strong new rail corridor between Eastern and Southern India, significantly enhancing connectivity across West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

The Amrit Bharat Express is a modern LHB rake train equipped with advanced push–pull technology, offering improved speed, smoother operations, and enhanced passenger comfort. The train is provided with modern passenger amenities, including ergonomically designed berths, modular toilets, LED lighting, CCTV surveillance, and mobile charging facilities.

Inaugural Train Details

Train No. 06108 Santragachi–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express will depart from Santragachi on Sunday, 18th January 2026 at 14:45 hrs, and will arrive at Tambaram at 18:45 hrs on the following day.

The train will pass through key stations under East Coast Railway jurisdiction, including Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Balugaon, Brahmapur, Palasa, Vizianagaram, and Duvvada.

Other Stoppages

Kharagpur, Baleshwar, Ranital, Srikakulam Road, Kottavalasa, Pendurti, Simhachalam North, Anakapalle, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada, Tenali, Chirala, Ongole, Nellore, Sullurupeta, and Chennai Egmore.

Coach Composition:

The train will consist of 22 coaches including General Second Class sitting- 11 coaches, Sleeper Class-08 coaches, Second class cum luggage van- 02 coaches and Pantry Car-01.

Introduction of the Santragachi–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express is not merely the launch of a new train service, but a step towards providing passengers with a faster, safer, and more affordable travel option, while strengthening long distance rail connectivity between Eastern and Southern India.

With its modern design, energy efficient LHB coaches, and affordable fares, the service will particularly benefit middle class passengers and contribute to regional growth and people centric development.
