Odisha Cabinet resolves to vaccinate all

Bhubaneswar, State Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today has taken important decisions for Covid management and containing spread of the pandemic in the State.

Briefing the press after the meeting Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said, “Cabinet has sincerely appreciated the hard work and sacrifices of the Covid warriors across the State”. The cabinet has also expressed its “heartfelt gratitude to the people of Odisha for their continued cooperation in the fight against Covid”.

Cabinet has noted that vaccination is the key for reducing severity of the pandemic and protecting the people from the present and future waves of Covid infection. As such cabinet decided that State Government will make all out efforts for procuring the vaccine from international companies through global tender.

A technical committee will work out the details for such procurement. The cabinet has also urged Government of India for exempting vaccines from tax liabilities. Cabinet has reiterated its determination to fight against the killer disease and has appealed the people to adopt covid appropriate practices like wearing of masks, frequent hand washing , maintaining social distance, staying at home and avoid going outside unless very urgently required.

Besides, Cabinet has also taken other ten important decisions relating to the departments of Water Resources, Industries, Commerce and Transport, General Administration and Public Grievance, and Home.
