As the severe cyclonic storm Nivar intensifies in the Bay of Bengal and is set for its landfall on Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast on Wednesday midnight, Puri-based internationally acclaimed sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattnaik’s sand art on the shores of the same sea has gone viral.
The Padma Sri awardee, who has put India prominently in the sand art map of the world with dozens of international awards and recognitions, has boosted the morale of the millions of people in the danger zone with his art and its timely appeal.
“Don’t panic! Stay safe”, goes the message with his prayer from the Land of Lord Jagannath.
Ironically, the sand sculpture has been erected on the serene sea beach at Puri – on the same coastline of the Bay of Bengal – in sharp contrast to the violent seashore in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Sudarsan has always been in headlines for his timely concern expressed over major national and international happenings.
“Prayers for everyone. #CycloneNivar : Do not panic! Have Courage. Let’s be prepared to stay safe and help others. One of My Sand Art at Puri beach,” Tweeted the renowned sand sculptor with a photograph of his touching creation.
