Guard of Honour to CM, Ministers and government officers abolished in Odisha

Odisha government today abolished the system of Guard of Honour given to Chief Minister, Ministers and government officers.

An official release issued from the Chief Minister office in Bhubaneswar said,  Patnaik ordered to do away with the system of giving Guard of Honour and House guard to Chief Minister, Ministers and government officers from today.

The Guard of Honour could be given to the invited Chief guests of Republic Day, Independence Day and Utkal Diwas.

However, the Guard of Honour would be given to President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Governor, Lokayukta, Chief Justice of Supreme Court and High Court, and other justices as before. Earlier, the Chief Minister had set an example by removing the red light from his government vehicle.

In another decision, the government decided to address the freedom fighters as ‘’Manyabar” considering their immense contribution to the freedom struggle.
Henceforth, persons in high constitutional posts and the freedom fighters would be addressed as only ” Manyabar ” the CM office sources here said.
