The ailing Union Minister Arun Jaitley, who had been overseas for medical treatment, is set to resume charge as Finance Minister on Friday.
According to official sources, Mr Jaitley will resume the charge of the key Ministry.
One of his first engagements as Finance Minister after resuming charge will be to attend the crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.
In his absence, Piyush Goyal handled the ministry for sometime and also presented the interim Budget on February 1.
The meeting to be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been convened to review security situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the terror attack at Pulwama on a CRPF convoy killing over 40 personnel.
Interestingly in a Tweet on Thursday evening, Mr Jaitley had said “Terrorists will be given unforgettable lesson for their heinous act” in Pulwama.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Finance Minister Jaitley are now likely to attend the crucial meeting.
