Two major places in Odisha, Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak, have been imposed with severe lockdown after two COVID-19 positive cases surfaced and mainly one of the patients, from Bhubaneswar, has no foreign travel history. The lockdown, which will be virtually a curfew shall start from Friday 8pm to Sunday 8 pm.
This was announced jointly by the chief secretary Asit Tripathy and the state DGP Abhay at press meet on Friday.
There has become the major concern about a possible community spread of the deadly virus.
Under the complete lockdown, even several essential amenities like vegetable, grocery, fruits and even some medicine shops shall remain closed completely.
The district authorities, however, ha ve the discretion over the number of Medicine shops allowed to be open.
Even the passes issues earlier to several sectors and people shall be construed as invalid till the curfew is over.
However, in any major exigency, people can apply for special passes and the authorities can only decide whether such passes are ungent or not.
