Going by the media reports, former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dilip Ray has kept everyone guessing about his next course of action. In an interaction with the media, Ray has reportedly played a smart card showing his hidden desire to stage a comeback to the Biju Janata Dal. Although such an hint at this stage may not have enough bearing on the electoral calculations but his statements against the National Democratic Alliance regime at the Centre speaks volumes.
Ray has raised the issues like super speciality hospital in Rourkela and a medical college besides construction of second bridge in Brahmani river. Ray took a direct dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that such promises should not be used to play with the sentiments of people.
Making that as the principal ground, Ray has almost made it clear that his come back to the BJP would be counterproductive for him because people would ask him what happened to the promises.
Then it makes many wonder as how could he be in the same party for over four years and did not raise any banner of protest even. Was that a kind of marriage of convenience, this is a question that makes round in the BJP circles.
Ray who had already met chief minister Naveen Patnaik some days back did not reveal as what had transpired from that meeting. But after a gap of several weeks now Ray making such a statement against the NDA clearly indicates at his willingness to join the BJD if the occasion arises.
