Everyone on earth comes with expiry date: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday joined issue with Trianmool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee for her remarks on ‘expiry date’ of prime ministership and said everyone on earth comes with an expiry date and about one’s tenure in office, it all depends on the 130 crore people.

During an interview to a private channel, to a question on AITC chief Mamata Banerjee’s “Expiry Babu” comment, Mr Modi said, “Every person on this earth comes with an expiry date. I don’t know mine. If she knows, she should tell.’

‘..130 crore people will decide on the primeministership,’ Mr Modi added.

The Prime Minister also said, ‘Since Mamata came to power in West Bengal, violence has increased greatly since then. This is a matter of concern for Left Front also..this is a matter of concern for democracy, I would like to keep an eye on democracy. ”

The West Bengal Chief Minister had on Wednesday called the Prime Minister ‘expiry babu’ after he

called her a speed breaker in the path of the state’s development.

Addressing an election meeting in Cooch Behar district, Ms Banerjee had said, ‘I will not call him Prime Minister, he is expiry babu as his government has passed the expiry date.’

To a question by interviewee on dynasty politics, the Prime Minister said, ‘Dynasty politics is not good for the country. We share our thoughts of dynasty with other parties very publicly.’

He said even father of the Constitution B R Ambedkar had said that ‘dynastic politics is dangerous for democracy’.

‘The culture of dynasty is totally different. In a democracy, dynastic politics is not right. I will not take anybody’s name. One or two families’ member may feel bad. So don’t take that point to such level as  this is a serious matter. There should be no blame game on this,’ the Prime Minister added. (UNI)
