The music lovers are getting a rare opportunity when Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain and jazz legend Louiz Banks are performing together in a special musical confluence for the grand launch of the Indian Music Experience (IME) on July 27 in the City.
The Indian Music Experience is conceived, supported and developed by the Brigade Group, with support from the Central and State governments, many Banks, Corporate and Philanthropists.
The duo will be joined by other stellar musicians, Gino Banks on Drums, Sanjay Divecha on Guitar and Sheldon D’ silva on Bass.
On the occasion, Zakir Hussain will be donating a set of Tablas to the Museum, to be part of its permanent collection, according to a press release here on Wednesday.
Speaking about the occasion, Zakir Hussain said,“This is a museum dedicated to Indian Music and the legendary maestros who have represented it over all these millenniums. So, we are delighted to present a unique concert specially curated by the maestro Louiz Banks for the occasion, and we invite music lovers to celebrate a great musical evening with us”.
Jazz Pianist and Music Composer Louiz Banks said, “This is an exclusive Museum that honors Indian Music and Musicians and we would love to see all Music lovers at this event that features the one and only Zakir Hussain, along with me and other stellar musicians. Zakir is one of my favorite musicians, as apart from being one of the greatest table maestros, he understands the intricacies of Jazz.”
The percussion maestro, who resides in the US, is returning to Bangalore after a gap of two years. The collaboration between Louiz Banks and Zakir Hussain goes back several decades.
The Indian Music Experience (IME), India’s first interactive music museum, is a non-profit initiative of the Indian Music Experience Trust, developed by the Brigade Group with the support of Union Ministry of Culture, Government of Karnataka, several corporate and philanthropists. The IME houses three main sections — a state-of-the-art interactive Exhibit Area, a Sound Garden and a Learning Centre.
