BHUBANESWAR: After maintaining self-isolation for 10 months for the Covid-19 situation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik preferred to reappear in public in Kalahandi district.
He held his first public meeting at Bhawanipatna town on Thursday.
“Kalahandi is no longer a laboratory to study poverty, it has become a role model of development in the country”, stated the Chief Minister.
He further said that Kalahandi has shown the state the path of development.
The district has turned into a rice bowl. Kalahandi’s farmers are feeding the nation, he stated.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a large number of development projects during his visit.
He inaugurated the lift irrigation project of Indravati Project constructed at Rs 986.71 crore.
“Indravati is not merely a river, it is our mother and lifeline”, he said.
He also announced that a museum, a temple and a park dedicated to Indravati will be developed soon.
The CM inaugurated 53 other projects constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 1064.86 crore and laid the foundation stone of 52 projects to be built at an investment of around Rs 1020.34 crore.
Elaborate arrangement were made at all gram panchayats of the district to watch the Chief Minister’s function LED television sets.
