Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a slew of incentives for Sports persons with an objective to fulfill their needs and create enough opportunity for excellence.
Mr. Patnaik announced the incentives following 5T initiatives of the state governnent and after a detailed interaction with the Sports Hostel students besides the feedback of the students
The monthly allowance of girl students in sports hostel is enhanced to Rs.500, and Rs.300 for boy students
All sports persons will be given a daily allowance of Rs.300 per day for out of station participation in recognised sports competition organised by NSF or similar level,
The Sports persons achieving Gold medal at National Level competitions will a get a monthly allowance of Rs.1000 for one year.
The sports persons with Silver and Bronze medals will receive a monthly pension of Rs.500 and Rs.300 respectively. Sports Hostel students will get this amount in addition to their monthly allowances.
Sports persons selected for National teams will a get monthly allowance of Rs.1000 for one year.
Similarly,if the medal winners create a record at National level and the record is not broken for one year, then the record holder will get an additional monthly allowance of Rs.5000 for one year
A separate scheme will be formulated for Sports Departments Coaches with monetary incentives for performance enhancement, Mr.Patnaik said.
The Chief Minister said Odisha has attracted the attention of the entire Globe in the field of sports after the successful hosting of 2017 Asian Athletic Championships and 2019 Hockey World Cup,
The sports persons of Odisha, he said have also displayed their immense talent at various national and international levels. The Sports Policy of Odisha Government has also created immense opportunity for the growth of sporting talents of the state besides the improvement of sports infrastructure.
Setting up of High Performance Centres in 10 categories including Badminton, Hockey, Football, Shooting, Swimming and Athletics has created immense potential for sports persons of India including Odisha, Mr. Patnaik said. (UNI)
