Congress general secretary for (Uttar Pradesh East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra rushed to his brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi constituency on Friday morning to review party’s poll preparedness.
Vadra, who was earlier scheduled to reach Amethi in the evening after holding a roadshow in Kanpur, changed her programme at the last moment and reached here on Friday morning.
“Immediately after reaching Amethi by a special aircraft, Vadra started marathon meetings with the party workers and leaders at the Gauriganj party office,” a senior party leader told UNI.
Vadra will hold meetings till 1400 hours and thereafter, she will leave for Kanpur to attend the roadshow there in support of Congress candidate Sriprakash Jaiswal.
Though there is a speculation, that she might return to Rae Bareli in the night to hold meetings with the party leaders of her mother’s Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Rae Bareli, there is no confirmation from the leaders yet.
Gandhi is contesting from both Amethi and Wayanad in Kerala this time, and it is speculated that if he wins from both the seats, then he will leave Amethi, from where Vadra will contest in the bypolls. (UNI)
