"Modi's transformation from Chaiwala to Chowkidar shows how conveniently he can change his identity":Abhishek Banerjee

Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee said, Modi’s transformation shows how conveniently he can change his identity.’

Addressing a public rally on Thursday at Kaliganj in support of TMC candidate Mahua Moitro, Banerjee said he(Modi) once called himself a Chaiwala and has now changed over to Chowkidar.

” In 2014, Modi said he had sold tea, carrying a kettle in his hand, and now he says he is the Chowkidar of 130 crore people,” he stated.

“A person who forgot the people, he had promised to work for, not a single vote should go to his party BJP,” the TMC leader said.

“People of Krishnagar have always supported us. I am sure they will support us again,”he said, seeking the support of the people gathered at the meeting.

“Believe me, every single vote is powerful enough to dislodge Narendra Modi from his seat of power at the Centre,” he told the voters.

“Each and every vote has limitless power to rejuvenate and reestablish democracy in India,”the youth leader stressed.

Slamming the BJP, he said,” BJP does divisive politics, creates rifts among people on the basis of religion.”

“Not only religious division, they also create discord among the people of different states. In Gujarat, they say ‘chase away the Biharis’, in Bihar they say ‘drive out the Bengalis’, Banerjee alleged.

Referring to the NRC, he said,”Voting for BJP and ensuring its victory equals to becoming a foreigner in one’s own land.”

“Keeping BJP in power also means pushing the country into economic disaster,” he averred.

“Now, it is up to you who you would give the reigns of the country,” he said.
Polling for Krishnagar constituency will go to poles in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 29 next.

It has seven assembly segments: Tehatta, Palashipara, Kaliganj, Nakshipara, Chapra, Krishnanagar Uttar and Nabadwip. (UNI)
