Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore remembered on his 78th death anniversary

People from all walks of life in Bengal along with the rest of

the country today paid homage to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his 78th death anniversary.

A prolific writer whose works ranged from poetries and songs to short stories and plays, Rabindranath Tagore passed away on August 7, 1941 on ‘Baishe Srabon’ (The 22nd Srabon in the Bengali calendar).

The day – 22 Shrabon – was observed with due solemnity, underscoring Tagore’s genius that is evident in his compositions in music, art and penmanship West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today paid tribute to the poet on the occasion. “Tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his death anniversary,”   Banerjee posted on her social networking page.

Chief Minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh in a tweet massage said, “Where mind is without fear & head is held high.. Into that heaven of freedom.. let my country awake..” Humble tributes to legendary poet #RabindranathTagore, the1st non-European to win Nobel Prize in Literature, on his death anniversary.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in his message said, “Remembering Gurudev #RabindranathTagore on his death anniversary. His contribution to the literature will always be remembered.”

Chief Minister of Puducherry V.Narayanasamy said, “Remembering the Nobel laureate #RabindranathTagore on his death anniversary today. His contributions in the field of #Literature is inspired for generations.”

Former Union Minister of Civil Aviation & Heavy Industries, Senior NCP Leader  and AIFF president Praful Patel in a tweet said, “Homage to India’s First #Nobel laureate, composer of the Indian National Anthem, Gurudev #RabindranathTagore on his death anniversary today.”

Indian National Congress (INC) tweeted, “We remember Nobel laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, on his death anniversary. He enriched not only literature, music & art, but also philosophy. His writings on patriotism and nationalism are especially relevant today.”
