Amid speculations that the Narendra Modi government is planning to offer the post of seputy speaker in Lok Sabha to BJD, Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik reached national capital on Sunday to meet various leaders, including the Prime Minister.

During the week-long visit, Patnaik will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind and various Union ministers. According to sources, Patnaik and his newly elected MPs will meet Modi on June 11.

This meeting is significant as there are speculations that the Modi government may offer the post of deputy speaker to Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal, which bagged 12 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.

“I will be meeting Prime Minister Modi, regarding mainly the damage done by Cyclone Fani and the funds the Centre can give us for that. Also, I have an appointment with the President whom I will be seeing and I will be attending NITI Aayog meeting”, said Patnaik.

The Odisha chief minister will attend the 5th meeting of the governing council of NITI Aayog, which will be held on June 15. (UNI)
