Traffic movement will be affected on roads adjoining the Lodhi Road crematorium due to the cremation of former External Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at around 1600 hrs.

Delhi Traffic Police in its traffic advisory said, ”Due to cremation of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, at Lodhi Road crematorium, the traffic will remain affected on Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Neela Gumbad, Moolchand Flyover, Defence Colony Flyover, Lodhi Road Flyover and adjoining roads from 1400 hrs to 1730 hrs. Motorists are advised to avoid these roads and plan their journey accordingly.”

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the departed leader are kept at the BJP headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg and large number politicians, ministers, party workers and people from all walks of life among others are thronging to pay their last respect.

The Delhi government has declared a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect in the memory of former Delhi chief minister Sushma Swaraj, who passed away on Tuesday night following severe cardiac arrest here.At 1500 hrs, her mortal remains will be taken to Lodhi Road crematorium, where her last rites will be performed with full state honours.

Swaraj served as the Minister of External Affairs of India from May 26 , 2014 to May 30 , 2019. She was elected seven times as a Member of Parliament and three times as a member of the Legislative Assembly.
