Kolkata, Nov 5 (UNI) To mark the iconic milestone of 50 years, India’s Premier Cultural Institution, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) is all set to bring one of the most brilliant, multifaceted and renowned musicians of our time, Arturo Sandoval to perform in India for the very first time.
The 10-time Grammy Award Winner, 6-time Billboard Award Winner and Emmy Award Recipient will perform exclusively at the NCPA ADD ART FESTIVAL in Mumbai which will be held from 29th November to 1st December 2019.
Fans who have so far seen him perform on television at the Oscars, the Grammys and the White House will get a chance to experience his concert first-hand at the NCPA ADD ART Festival on Friday, 29th November 2019. This will be Arturo’s first live concert in India.
The second day of the festival, Saturday, 30th November 2019 will witness a Jam session with Arturo Sandoval featuring musicians from across the country followed by a master class with the maestro on the final day – Sunday, 1st December.
In addition to his Grammy Awards, Sandoval is a celebrated classical artiste as well as a composer who has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama and was recently honoured with a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the prestigious University of Notre Dame.
Although he is an acknowledged virtuoso of jazz trumpet and flugelhorn, he is just as dynamic and vivacious on the piano, timbales, vocals and keyboard. He delights in presenting a diverse and exhilarating show featuring Afro-Cuban jazz, bebop, straight-ahead jazz and so much more.
