A jigsaw puzzle politics that may challenge the wits of political ‘pundits’.

The frenetic pace at which the political developments are taking place might confuse best of statisticians in the field. What is more amusing if the pace of the creation of the new political combinations either real or speculative in nature. The situation has of course given a free ride to the rumour mills who keep airing possibilities day in and day out. So is the situation in the media circle where scribes are under pressure to construct hypothetical formations with the help of fresh narratives, real or otherwise.

It is no less taxing to know the chronology of events when leaders change parties under circumstances either compelling or opportunistic.

Barely hours have passed when one came across news regarding the birth of the Odisha Ganatantrika Samukhya (OGS) by the duo Kharvela Swain and Braja Kishore Tripathy. Interestingly, it was Tripathy who had couple of months back had teamed with former BJD veteran Damodar Rout to form Biju Samata Kranti Dal or so. Now that shutter seems down as a beleaguered Rout was heard coaxing the fate than the ones who had raised the hopes about challenging the 19 years old dispensation of Naveen Patnaik.

Swain was on record claiming that the OGS is holding active parleys with many other leaders like Rout, Biajayant Panda and many more whose names also feature in other notional outfits in the making.

With the OGS in a state of nascence still, there is a buzz about the creation of a stronger front taking leaders like Bijay Mohapatra and Dilip Ray, two worn-out leaders in the BJP,   to join hands with the flamboyant politician Baijayant Panda to toss-up a new outfit with its doors open for willing aspirants. What adds to the confusion is that, the above team of three may strike a  with the Congress party in Odisha to upset the balance of the BJD.

It is an interesting mix of  permutations and combinations that require a whose-who kind of data-sheet to know who is where ! Each name is being dragged by the other equivocally till it figures in the list of the other camp.

Like ‘ all the roads lead to Rome’, what is, in fact, common and less cumbersome is that they are all lined up against one enemy i.e Naveen Patnaik.
