To strengthen the counter terrorism grid in the state of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of independence day, the Centre has decided to deploy an additional force of 10000 troops. The Centre’s move came after the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval returned from his two day J&K visit.
In a official order issued by Home Ministry to the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) said that 50 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 30 from Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) and 10 companies each from Border Security Force (BSF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will be moving to Valley.
The additional forces are being deployed to strengthen “counter insurgent grid” as well as maintaining law and order in Kashmir, the MHA order reads. However, a source in the state security set said that the additional deployment was already sought from centre for North Kashmir and the troops are being airlifted from the different parts of the country.
Recently, around 40,000 additional central paramilitary forces were brought in for Amarnath Yatra Security. Around 100 companies of paramilitary forces were also deployed on February 24 in the valley during the general election held in April and May.
