BJP demands vigilance inquiry into corruption in OKVIB

Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly Pradipta Naik today demanded a vigilance inquiry into the corruption in the Odisha state Khadi and Village Industries Board (OKVIB).

Raising the issue during the zero hour, Naik said the Head of the OKVIB and some dishonest employees of the Board have looted crores of rupees given by both the state and the Central government for the development of bee farming and Khadi.
He urged the Speaker to direct the Minister concerned to make a statement in the house.

The BJP leader said while the state government had given Rs 39.94 crore the central Khadi and Village Industries Commission had provided Rs 46.28 crore to the Board during 2014 to 2017.

He said OKVIB had received Rs 86 crore during the three financial year but produced goods worth only Rs 3.58 crore.
Naik said the money was looted by making false bills in the name of some fake advertising agency and consultancy companies.
The leader of Opposition said as per a release issued by the OKVIB in May 2018 training was imparted to 1200 bee farmers and 2400 honey boxes were given to 480 bee farmers.
He said while the cost of each box should be Rs 1,000, quotation of Rs 30,000 was approved for each box.
