Both the ruling side and opposition need to work together: Govt

The NDA government exuded confidence that the Parliament session commencing Monday will be transacted smoothly and asserted that both the opposition parties and the ruling side would have to play a respective role.

“As per people’s mandate, both the ruling party, NDA and the opposition hold a role to play for the country. Prime Minister has guided us to work together for nation,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told reporters here.

Ahead of the maiden session of the newly-constituted 17th Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other key leaders of the ruling dispensation held crucial rounds of meetings with opposition leaders and among themselves on Sunday to ensure smooth transaction of business during the over a month long session.

Modi assured the people that his government will tirelessly work in the true spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ and strive for an inclusive development with trust of all sections of the society.

The session should start with a ‘new thinking and fresh zeal’, Mr Modi has emphasised in his customary meeting with opposition leaders.

On Monday and Tuesday, the first two days of the session, Protem Speaker Virender Kumar will administer the oath of office and secrecy.

The Speaker of the new Lok Sabha will be elected on June 19. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget on July 5.

The session will continue till July 26 and President Ram Nath Kovind will address the Joint Sitting of Parliament on June 20.
