Indian Pilgrims are all set to cross Nathula, Sino-Indian border
on June 20 for their much awaited sojourn at holy Mount Kailash and Mansarove, in
China.

Twenty male and eleven females all from warmer regions will undergo acclimatization.
The 31 travellers from across the nation have started their journey from 15th Mile
Jawahar Lal Nehru Road, for further acclimatization to 17th mile today. From there
they are scheduled to proceed towards Sherathang for 2 day stay.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will be conducting final medical check ups there
on June19 .Those found medically fit would be allowed to embark on their journey to
Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) China.

The pilgrims escorted by 2 liaison officers attended a briefing session in Gangtok
before leaving for 15th mile acclimatization centre.
Commandant 48th ITB Police, TS Mangang apprised them about the route to be
followed , acclimatization schedule, Do’s & Dont’s and mountain sickness.
He urged them to travel peacefully.This was preceded by a welcome programme
hosted by Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation, led by General Manager Anit

Thapa, in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary Dr K.Jaikumar and others from
Tourism Department.
