It was a moment of rejoicing, exchange of pleasantries and greetings among the newly elected members as they greeted each other and took one another in arms on the first day of the Parliament session on Monday.
Right from the Parliament premises to Central Hall and later in the Lok Sabha chamber, the euphoric atmosphere prevailed and the members seemed to have forgotten the bitterness of the campaign during the general elections.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar was among the early comers into the House about 25 minutes before the session began. So were his colleagues Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr S Jaishankar, though the former diplomat-turned-politician is not a member of either of the Houses.
DMK lawmaker and former Union Minister A Raja was greeted by Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad with both of them engaging in a warm hug .
Birbhum MP Satabdi Roy was among the first Trinamool Congress lawmaker to enter the House and soon she greeted NCP member Supriya Sule – took.
Former Telecom Minister Dayandidhi Maran and senior DMK MP T R Baalu were among others who greeted and exchanged pleasantries with other members.
From West Bengal BJP members Locket Chatterjee, S S Ahluwalia and Dlip Ghosh greeted each other.
Among the opposition members veteran Mulayam Singh Yadav (Samajwadi) was accompanied by his lawmaker son Akhilesh Yadav.
Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Farooq Abdullah of National Conference were also present exchanging pleasantries with other MPs.
The seat on the right hand side of Sonia Gandhi remained vacant as Congress is yet to take a final decision on its floor leader in the new Lok Sabha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s entry into the House premises was greeted by members with thumping of desks and raising of ‘Modi Modi’ slogan.
Before the session began Mr Modi greeted members and also came to the opposition bench and greeted among others former Sonia Gandhi, Faorooq Abdullah, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay.
Another Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee also came forward to greet Prime Mini
