New Delhi, Nov 21: Very soon center will import 1.2 lakh tonnes of onions. Yesterday Union Cabinet approved for import of onions. It was stated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at a media briefing after the Cabinet meeting. The Union Cabinet gave its approval to the Food Ministry’s decision about the import of 1.2 lakh tonnes of onions.Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on November 16 had said that the Center will import 1,00,000 tonnes of onions through state-run MMTC.
