Chief Minister PS Tamang has rejected the idea floated by opposition for imposition of President’s Rule in Sikkim. Commenting on former CM Pawan Chamling’s post campaign statement in Martam –Rumtek constituency in favour of Nuk Tshering Bhutia, Sikkim Democratic Front candidate, he said, ‘Why at all ? When each and everyone is living freely.’ Three Constituencies in Sikkim are facing By Poll on October 21 including Gangtok, Martam Rumtek and PokLok Kamrang. Both the present CM and former CM were campaigning in the constituency in different blocks.
MLA Chamling asked for President’s Rule due to violence in South Sikkim saying ‘people from outside wearing mask attacked left and right, also caused damage to vehicles. His own vehicle was damaged as stones were pelted. The area appeared like battle ground. Central Government should look into it.’ He alleged that CM was inciting violence. It was murder of democracy. Hence to save Sikkim President’s Rule is requested for and of course Mid Term Polls.
Chief Minister PS Tamang, campaigning for Sikkim Krantikari Morcha ally BJP candidate ST Vechungpa, refuted the statement. He said all that happened, was stage managed. He himself did all that. Public went as far as saying ‘Go Back’to the leader having ruled for 25 years. No question of President’s Rule when it is all normal. ( UNI)
