The Congress has announced candidates for Khurda, Khandapada and Pipili Assembly seats in Odisha today.
According to the list, cleared by the central election committee of the Congress and released by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, Swagatika Patnaik will represent the party from Khurda Assembly constituency while Basant Kumar Maharana will represent Khandapada.
The party also announced the replacement candidate for Pipili Assembly constituency where its earlier nominee Yudhisthir Samantray refused to contest polls yesterday. The new candidate to represent the party in the constituency is Ajit Mangaraj.
It may be mentioned here that the state will go to polls in four phases starting April 11. Polls for the Lok Sabha’s 543 elected seats are being held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Odisha Assembly polls, on the other hand, will be conducted in four phases between April 11 and April 29. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and the results will be declared on the same day.
