Delhi Police has busted an interstate narcotics smuggling gang arresting two smugglers and recovered 205 kg of Marijuana from their possession.
According to police, a team from Govindpuri police station acted on an input according to which a consignment of narcotics substances was to be delivered in Delhi that was coming from Odisha.
On the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday, a container truck moving towards Kalkaji was signalled to stop, but the driver did not stop but the vehicle was later intercepted.
The accused has put a label of ‘Dak Parcel’ on the truck in view of misleading the police.
During search, 11 gunny bags weighing around 205 kg of Marijuana were recovered from the secret cavity built in the truck between the driver cabin and the rest of the container.
The two smugglers have been identified as Rajkumar and Kanhaiya Lal, both residents of Hapur and Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh respectively.
During questioning, Kanhaiya Lal revealed that he was driving trucks for the past 7 years and around an year ago came in contact with two people in Faridabad where he presently lived and became a part of the syndicate that was involved in smuggling illicit liquor in Bihar and ganja in Delhi NCR which was brought from Odisha.
Further probe is underway to find out linkages, while a case has been registered against the two under appropriate sections.
