West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress(TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday reiterated her allegation that demonetisation was a big scam.
Addressing media persons in which she announced the names of 42 candidates for Lok Sabha Elections, Ms Banerjee sought answers from the BJP on the issue.
Referring to Pathankot and Pulwama terror attacks, she asked why so many people were killed in both incidents.
She attacked the BJP by saying that ‘politics of hatred is dividing the people’.
The TMC supremo further alleged that crores of rupees are being spent in spreading fake news on social media. Before announcing the list of TMC candidates for the 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal, Ms Banerjee declared the names of five sitting MPs who won’t contest the polls for various reasons.
“ Jadavpur MP Sugata Bose will not contest because he hasn’t got permission from Harvard university where he is a professor. Sandhya Roy won’t contest because she is not keeping well. Senior leaders Subrata Bakshi and Uma Soren will work for the party,” she said.
The chief minister announced that her party has fielded 40.5 per cent female candidates from 35 per cent in the 2014 election in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. West Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha seats. “This is a proud moment for us,” she said.
Former Actor and present Bankura MP Moonmoon Sen will contest against possible BJP candidate Babul Supriyo from Asansol Lok Sabha constituency.
