Pressing the demand for full statehood for Delhi, AAP national convenor and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that if Delhi becomes full state then 85 per cent jobs will be secured for its youth.
He said full statehood will be the main issue of AAP in Lok Sabha polls in Delhi which will be held on May 12.
Addressing a press conference on forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, Mr Kejriwal said, “This time in Lok Sabha polls, Delhi will vote for full statehood. For 70 years people of Delhi are being exploited, this is injustice. For 70 years, step-motherly treatment is being meted out to Delhi.’
‘People of Delhi will fight for their rights in this Lok Sabha elections,’ the AAP national convenor added. ‘Full statehood is the right of people of Delhi and we will get this for Delhi under any circumstances,’ he said.
People of the national capital pay income tax of Rs 1.5 lakh crore every year to the Central government, he said, adding, ‘The Central government spends Rs 3200 crore on a less populous state like Goa, while on Delhi it spends only Rs 325 crore.’
Mr Kejriwal announced that after Delhi becomes full state then 85 per cent jobs will be secured for Delhi’s youth and in the University also, 85 per cent seats will be secured for Delhi students.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence that AAP will emerge victorious on all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. ‘Our internal survey shows a clear win for us in Delhi. We will win all 7 seats,” Mr Kejriwal said.
AAP has already declared candidates for six of Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats, accusing the Congress of denying an alliance. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP had won all the seven seats in Delhi.
