Fighting terror in assertive manner was unthinkable in the past, but ‘feasible now’, says Jaitley

fighting terror

A day after India undertook the aerial strike destroying terrorist camp at Balakot in Pakistan, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said the Air Force assault proves that India can also do something which was ‘unthinkable’ until recent past.

‘When the US attacked (Osama) bin Laden, there used to be frustration (in India) that can we not do similar thing. This used to be an imagination only, ‘ichha hoti thi, ek frustration thaa, nirasha thi, aaj wo bhi sambhav hai (There use to be a desire, a frustration, a disappointment. Today, this is also possible),’ said   Jaitley at a function of the Clean Ganga Movement where Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Nitin Gadkari were also present.

‘A week is too long a time for any country. If you look at last 24 hours, one week would appear to be a day. The kind of things we see…I remember when the US Navy SEALs had taken Osama Bin Laden from Abbottabad (Pakistan), then can’t we do the same?”

BJP leaders including Ram Madhav have said that the decisive stance of the government and the ‘will power’ shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team have in effect made it possible for the Air Force to carry out such an exercise.
