G M University in Western Odisha  receives  12(B) status from UGC

Sambalpur:The Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) became the first University in Odisha among the recently created ones to receive 12 (B) status in its performances in various fields by University Grants Commission (UGC). University Deputy Registrar  U C Pati said the UGC being satisfied on academic activities  of the  G M University has conferred this unique status.

He further said that the 12 (B) status will make GM University  eligible to receive various grants for infrastructure development, research programmes and other purpose from UGC.  Moreover, the 12 (B) status also paves the way for NAAC accreditation, he added.

Mr.Pati said the  12 ( B) status  will help the university tremendously in its journey towards quality education  adding that a number of student-centric quality initiatives could be now be launched by the university.

The institution,the Deputy Registrar said  has been trying to achieve the status since the day it was upgraded to university,” Established in the year 1944, it was upgraded to university from an autonomous college in the year 2015. The varsity offers 26 PG, 27 UG in 10 Ph D and 19 M Phil courses besides self-financing courses in Management and many others areas.

In July this year, a high level five member expert committee of UGC visited the institution  to make spot assessments.  The team visited all the departments of the institution, laboratories, library, examination section, hostels and interacted with students, research scholar and teaching staffs.
