Chilika: INS Chilka fire brigade put out a wild grass fire in nearby village of Akhupokhara. Naval sentry on duty at Solapokhari reported sighting major bush fire in the evening hours of Saturday.
On getting information, the team under Lt Cdr Akshay Kumar Sahu, Officer of the Day at INS Chilka reached the spot immediately brought the wild fire under control within half an hour. The timely action by the Naval fire brigade helped in preventing major loss to life and property had it been not extinguished in time. The local people of Akhupokhara thanked the team for their timely fire fighting operation and prompt support by the Naval Fire brigade.
