A constable of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) committed suicide on Sunday by shooting self with his service rifle in the summer capital, Srinagar.
This is the second incident in less than 24 hours during which a ITBP personnel committed suicide in the valley.
Official sources said that panic gripped inside an ITBP camp at Sericulture Office in Solina in Srinagar when a gunshot was heard early on Sunday. “The ITBP personnel rushed towards the area, where they saw a jawan lying in a pool of blood,” they said.
They said the injured was rushed to SHMS hospital, where he was declared brought dead. “The deceased was identified as Constable Ramphul Meena of 11th battalion of ITBP.
A Sub Inspector (SI) of ITBP, identified as Chander Mani, committed suicide with his service weapon in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Saturday.(UNI)
