Two hardcore lady Maoists surrender during Odisha DGP’s visit

Bhubaneswar, Apr 12: The Left Wing Extremists today released four motor launches they had taken away with them two days ago along with the staff in the cut-off areas of Maoist-hit Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district.

The Maoist had given a call to the people to boycott the election and took the launches in their custody to prevent people to go to polling station to cast their vote.

Elections to four Lok Sabha –Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and 28 Assembly seats was held simultaneously in the first phase yesterday.

Fearing Maoist threat, villagers did not turn up to 30 polling booths in Malkangiri district yesterday to cast their ballots.

The Maoists had taken away two motor launches from Panasput and two from Sindhiput, along with 12 employees on April 10, a day before the election. (UNI)
