Neither Congress president Rahul Gandhi nor his sister Priyanka Gandhi’s entry into politics would improve the dismal prospects of the Congress in the forthcoming elections.
Stating this while addressing ‘The Youth Akali Dal’ rallies, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia said Monday that Congress has failed to honour its poll promises and all sections of society – be it students, farmers, labourers , government employees are completely disillusioned and would give a serious drubbing to the party in the impending Lok Sabha polls.
Making a frontal attack on Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar, who hails from Abohar itself, Majithia said the party president is as responsible as the chief minister of the state and people are questioning him as to what he and his government had done for the people of this area.
Majithia reminded that Jakhars had remained on all top positions during the Congress government but had done precious little for the area despite their proximity to Gandhi family which alone ruled the country for over four decades.
Since jakhars failed to serve, the electorate had rejected him in the last assembly elections though he managed to win Lok Sabha by-poll as people of distant Gurdaspur were not aware of his non-performance.
The SAD leader said Jakhar must explain to the people what the Congress government had done during the last couple of years as the promises of waiver of all sort of farmers’ loan, one job per family and unemployment allowance till one gets job, smart phones for youths have fallen flat. (UNI)
